$20 – $28/hr. depending on experience.

This position is in the Belmont, NH area.

Job Summary:

With minimum of supervision, analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate components for cutting-edge custom automated manufacturing equipment.  Assembled components include machined components, fabricated parts, and purchased parts such as: robotics, vision systems, pick & place mechanisms, feeders, indexing dials.

Roles & Responsibilities:  Include a significant portion of the below duties, and others may be assigned.

Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.

Calculates dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.

Measures, marks and scribes metal stock for Machining.

Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, jig borer, job grinders, grinder and honing machine, to machine or fabricate parts and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.

Lifts machine parts and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable.

Smoothes flat and contoured surfaces with power grinders, and fits and assembles parts together into assemblies and mechanisms.

Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.

Heat treats tools and parts.

Brazes and welds parts.

Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.

Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.

Works with engineers to help assembly machinery.

Required Qualifications: Operate all tool room equipment proficiently.  CNC Lathes, Millers, grinders, Bridgeport, manual lathe, grinders.  Some proficiency in CAD a plus.


Prefer four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  But the right candidate with less experience may be considered.


Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to supply concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios to practical situations.


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
