Overview:

Provide high quality legal services to clients of varying complexity and difficulty under the direction and/or supervision of an attorney.

Duties:

  • Prepare, organize, analyze and process legal documents and other records including, but not limited to, briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, articles of incorporation, stock certificates, title abstracts and opinions, corporate meeting minutes or other documentation with direction and guidance from Attorneys and Paralegal Mentor.
  • Conduct fact gathering, analyze information and perform legal research.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of firm technology with strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, telecommunications, presentation, litigation support and e-discovery software usage skills.
  • Assist at trial in litigation matters and provide support at closings of business transactions.
  • Interview witnesses for factual information.
  • Works closely with the Mentor to prepare Individual Practice Plans designed to develop the
  • Paralegal’s goals bi-annually and monitor performance and productivity.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with all employees within the organization and its clients.
  • Assist in legal research and remain current in laws and regulations affecting assigned practice area.
  • Perform other tasks and work on projects as needed.

 

Supervision:

No direct supervision. May supervise work delegated to Legal Administrative Staff.

Supervised by:

Direct supervision from the Attorneys assigning work, Paralegal Manager and assigned Mentor with indirect supervision from Practice Group Chair.

Essential Functions:

  • A solid foundation of the fundamental skills needed to apply practice area concepts to the appropriate tasks.
  • Possess effective communication skills in order to engage effectively with others within the firm and those individuals involved in matters pertaining to Firm business.
  • Established writing skills with an ability to prepare clear and concise written communications.
  • Possess strong organizational skills in order to effectively manage workload with an ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • College degree or Paralegal certificate (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) with a minimum of three years of experience preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Professional demeanor, ethical standards and able to preserve and maintain confidentiality at all times.
