1st shift – Wed – Fri., – 6:30 am – 3 pm
SUMMARY: Working under the direction of the Shift Leader the Shipping/Receiving Clerk is responsible to provide time, cost effective, undamaged and accurate delivery of finished printed products and receipt of same. This person must be aware of the needs of shipping area and must perform assigned duties in an orderly fashion with concern for customers, visitors, staff and management. Level of activity is usually heavy involving lifting up to 70 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 45 pounds. Involves loading and unloading skids averaging 1,250 pounds with a pallet jack or fork truck. Also includes the unloading and proper placement of paper with clamp truck.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must have met all training requirements for a shipping/receiving clerk and complete the training and certification of fork truck operator.
Must have problem solving abilities.
High school diploma or GED.
Mathematical ability. Need to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Must possess keyboard and computer skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive all shipments and products and make appropriate entries in the log book.
Ship all finished products and make appropriate entries in the log book.
Prepare and ship all UPS delivered products and make appropriate entries in the log book. Complete appropriate end of day UPS reports.
Load and unload all customers and be sure receipts are signed.
Strap all finished products with 4 to 5 straps to assure product is getting to its location in good order.
Foster positive communications with all truckers and Company Transport Systems drivers ensuring that trucks are loaded in the proper order for smooth, timely deliveries.
Foster positive communications with shift leaders in all other production departments including prepress, pressroom and mailing.
Assist in loading the mail truck.
Unload paper and place it in the proper location as to size and basis weight. Record all roll numbers and weights to assure the proper load and weight is received. Note any damage and make immediate supervisor aware of the damage.
Load all waste and keep records of weights for accounting purposes.
Obtain correct receipts from carriers with full information confirming shipment and/or delivery. Check for damage and not such for a claim to be filed if necessary.
Deliver incoming supplies to all departments as timely as possible after receipt.
Keep shipping and receiving and paper inventory neat, clean and organized.
Follow all safety rules and procedures.
Assist other departments during slow periods for instance, press and mailing departments.
All other duties requested by Management.
