PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results, including sizing and illustrations
Assembles, repairs, and fabricates parts by operating mechanical equipment
Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product
Use measuring devices and techniques to ensure proper sizing and adherence to specifications as work is very precise with no variances in dimensions
Maintain, Repair, and Machine components for plastic injection molds
Maintain and Repair dies and die components
Perform mold set-up and changeovers
Understand materials and applications as required
Uses various materials including stainless steel, tool steel, aluminum, brass, and plastic
Uses various equipment including manual and CNC lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses
Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling and lathe work, using various engine lathes
Uses various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools as well as cutting tools and measuring instruments on a frequent basis
Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and to observe safety precautions
Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear
Keep work area neat and clean
Assist other machinist in department with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor
Follow company safety procedures and OSHA lockout-tag out regulations for equipment under power.
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
High School diploma
1-2 years direct experience as a machinist
Must be able to produce tooling and fixtures as well as perform inspection for adherence to quality and tolerances.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision producing parts in a variety of materials including metals and plastics.
