Tool & Die Maker

1st shift, benefits upon hire onto company payroll, sign on bonus, excellent starting pay rate – one of the highest pay rates!

 Job Responsibility:

  • Works with engineers to help develop custom solutions to difficult mechanical problems.
  • Designs and fabricates and tests proof-of-concept mock-ups to prove out new concepts, and dial-in operating parameters (tool geometry, cutting speeds, feed rates, etc).
  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
  • Calculates dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, jig borer, job grinders, grinder and honing machine, to machine or fabricate parts and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Smooths flat and contoured surfaces with power grinders, and fits and assembles parts together into assemblies and mechanisms.
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances Heat treats tools and parts.
  • Brazes and welds (MIG and TIG a plus) parts.
  • Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
  • Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.
  • Lifts machine parts and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable.  High precision, low tolerance custom machinist. Ability to make custom tools to within .0002 inches.

Education and/or Experience:

Prefer four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. But the right candidate with less experience may be given an opportunity depending on overall skills.
