Overview:
While strictly adhering to confidentiality guidelines, purchase US Coins/bank notes from various sources as required to meet company demand, properly grade and assess the need for all coins/bank notes offered for sale to the company, authenticate US coins offered for sale, analyze the company projected coin needs vs. actual availability of such coins on the wholesale market. Required traveling 25% of time at minimum.
Responsibilities:
In an apprenticeship program from 6 to 24 months, will learn to:
- Work with Coin Buyers/Team taking direction from them so as to gain competency in the above job content area.
- Properly grade and assign wholesale values to all coins and bank notes offered for sale to the company.
- Authenticate selected US coins and bank notes offered for sale to the company.
- Purchase US Coins/bank notes from dealer/wholesale sources as required to meet company demand.
- Purchase US Coins/bank notes from private collectors and customers/selected appointments.
- Responsible to maintain appropriate skill level to ensure consistency in quality and productivity of the team over the longer time frame.
- Accurately figure collections/offers, both on- and off-site.
- Handle customer correspondence as it relates to value and buy prices.
- Analyze the company’s projected coin needs vs. actual availability of same on the wholesale market.
- Assist in maintaining and expanding upon a strong network of coin suppliers to ensure continued success. Important to sustain and develop long term relationships with suppliers by paying attention to their needs.
- Has access to and is responsible for safeguarding company confidential data pertaining to suppliers, products, pricing, inventory and promotional strategies, etc.
- Responsible for accurate identification of all coin types, varieties and mint marks utilizing reference guides, supplied by the company.
- Responsible to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the department.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Equivalent of two years of college or specialized training.
- On-the-Job Training in apprenticeship program up to 2 years.
Skills/Abilities:
- Learning style somewhat self-guided once direction set
- Ability to make sound decisions quickly
- Very good interpersonal negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent math and retention skills
- Good organizational skills
- 20/20 corrected vision with intact color discrimination (basic and shades of color)
- Able to lift up to 35 pounds, unassisted
