Set Up Specialist (Machine Operator)
1st Shift – $21.78/hr.
Position Overview
Ability to set up and operate a variety of CNC lathes and machining centers to fabricate parts. Responsible to train and assist other employees as needed with set-ups, quality issues, pre-setting tools, etc. Works closely with Engineering on various production issues. Responsible to ensure that goal hours, utilization and quality expectations are met. Oversees the department in the absence of the department supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned:
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Able to perform all duties of a Machine Operator (CNC WG3) CNC III, and CNC Specialist SL 2 as required.
Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
Works closely with Production Control to prioritize production on machines and ensures an optimum flow of work.
Coordinates production needs and interactions with other shifts to ensure a smooth transition from one shift to the next.
Works with other employees or individuals to reduce set-up times throughout the department.
Periodically checks others’ work for quality assurance.
Skills and Experience
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
